Russian-language biography of Andrei Bely (1880-1934), Russian novelist, Symbolist poet, theorist and literary critic. His novel "Petersburg" (1913/1922) was regarded by Vladimir Nabokov as the third-greatest masterpiece of modernist literature.
This work was published posthumously from unfinished manuscripts. It was the first scholarly biography of Bely to be written, with substantial discussion of Bely's work.
