Volume is bound in quarter green cloth and green paper-covered boards. Spine has stamped gilt lettering. Book shows light shelfwear, with mild soiling at top edge of covers and top edge of text block. Fore edge displays some foxing. Binding is firm. Pages are clean and bright. Bright pictorial dust jacket exhibits minor loss at top edge of spine panel and very minor loss at top outside corners. Price-clipped jacket is preserved in paper-backed mylar cover. 
This work contains a preface by C. T. Shen and a foreword by David Rush. It offers a glossary of Chinese ingredients and an index. There are a number of textual drawings by Nai Gi.
