Poet, essayist and novelist Diego Martínez Torrón (b. 1950) is a professor of Spanish Literature at the University of Córdoba. This essay collection covers various aspects of the work of Spanish writer José de Espronceda (1808-1842) and addresses such topics as Spanish romanticism, Espronceda's historic novel "Sancho Saldaña," socialism and anarchism in the era of Espronceda, the poem "El Pelayo" and his unfinished poem "El diablo mundo".
