Antique volume, measuring approximately 6.75" x 9.5", is bound in red cloth, with stamped gilt lettering to spine and gilt top edge of text block. Also on spine is a pictorial design in gold depicting a buccaneer. Book shows moderate wear, with light soiling to covers and vertical ripple along fore edge of rear cover. Binding is sound. Pages 280 and 281 display offsetting from laid in newspaper clipping. Interior is otherwise clean and without markings. All called-for plates are present, including frontispiece portrait of Henry Morgan. Fold-out map is well preserved.
Translation of one of the most important sourcebooks of 17th-century piracy, first published in Dutch as "De Americaensche Zee-Roovers", in Amsterdam, by Jan ten Hoorn, in 1678.
